In the serene town of Paciano, nestled within the rolling hills of Italy, Amelia, an Australian lady with Dutch roots, led a seemingly ordinary life. As a talented artist, she was known for her breathtaking hand-painted postcards, which she sold at the local market to support the town’s Infiorata group. Amelia was also known for her vivacious personality and a knack for talking the ears off anyone who’d listen. Little did Amelia know, her idyllic world would soon take an eerie turn.
One fateful morning, Amelia, along with other residents of Paciano, awoke to a thick, unnatural fog that had descended upon the town. The air was heavy and filled with a sense of foreboding. However, the market day awaited, and Amelia was determined to sell her postcards despite the unsettling atmosphere.
As Amelia set up her stall, she noticed the townspeople were behaving oddly. Their usual friendly banter was replaced with hushed whispers, and they cast nervous glances at one another as they hurried about their business. Soon, Amelia discovered the cause of their unease: a mysterious, old woman had appeared in the market, seemingly out of nowhere. This enigmatic figure was peddling an array of peculiar items, including a dusty, antique book filled with cryptic symbols and ominous incantations.
The peculiar old woman caught Amelia’s eye and beckoned her over. Intrigued, Amelia approached the stranger, who introduced herself as Esmeralda. Amelia, being her talkative self, struck up a lively conversation with Esmeralda, discussing everything from the weather to her passion for painting. As they spoke, Esmeralda revealed that the book contained powerful spells that could be used to grant one’s deepest desires. However, the spells came with a price: for each wish granted, an embarrassing event would befall the wisher.

Amelia, never one to resist the allure of the unknown, couldn’t help but test the book’s power. She wished for her postcards to become the most popular in the region, and as if by magic, her stall was immediately swarmed by eager customers.
The postcards sold like hotcakes, and Amelia reveled in her newfound success. However, she had forgotten about the book’s caveat. As Amelia chatted animatedly with her customers, her voice growing louder and louder, she suddenly found herself unable to control the volume of her speech. Try as she might, Amelia couldn’t stop herself from practically shouting at her customers, revealing their most embarrassing moments that she had overheard throughout the years.
When Jack bought postcards she reminded everyone about his Pajama Parade, and when Hugo and Margot stopped buy, everyone could hear Amelia talking about their gardening mishaps and their attempts to get Frank’s prize.

The onlookers, couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the awkward spectacle. Amelia’s uncontrollable voice had turned the market into a comedy show, and the town couldn’t get enough of it.
Chagrined but good-natured, Amelia joined in the laughter, realizing that the spell had worked, albeit with a humorous twist. The story of Amelia’s boisterous blunder and the mysterious book spread throughout the town, transforming the eerie atmosphere into one of amusement. Even the old woman, Esmeralda, shared a chuckle with Amelia before she vanished as suddenly as she had appeared, leaving the town to wonder if she had ever truly been there at all.
